Update: fingers crossed | ADHD Information

Good for you.  It's so exciting when something works.Youre such a wonderful source of support for so many of us.  Thanks for coming to the rest of us for a shoulder to lean on!    I'm glad to hear you're on to something; it helps me keep the faith that I'll eventually find the right meds for my son.  Thank you for saying that mamatothestars!  It's wonderful to know that my words may help someone!  And to know that everyone is here if I need someone too!

I'm so happy things are still headed in the right direction for you!!! I haven't been on the boards much lately because we just recently got back from a cruise...yes, that's right, we were able to take our son on a crusie!!!! Something we NEVER could have or would have done prior to the medication. It really has opened up so many opportunities...even things like taking him grocery shopping are still a big deal to me!

Anyway, just wanted to touch base, and tell you how pleased I was to read that things are working out for Logan! You are so supportive of others on these boards, it's so nice to read of good things happening to good people!

Thanks for the update. It's nice to hear everything's going well!

As some of you know my son tried a switch from Methylin to Strattera over the holidays.  It was definitely rocky at first when he went off of the Ritalin all together!  I had flashbacks to before we started meds!  If I ever had any doubt about our decision to medicate, all doubt is now gone when I saw him without any medication!

At one point we also tried to eliminate the Tenex to see if he really needed it and it was not pretty!  We quickly added it back in.  Once the Strattera kicked in things got better but not great.  He was still sooooo impulsive!  So we tried to up the dose of Strattera 2 different times, but that made him extreemely hyper so we knew it was too high!  Bottom line is that we added Ritalin/Methylin back in at 1/2 the dose he was on before and I think we may be on to something here!

For the last week and 1/2 my son has been very good!  He's gotten all green marks in school and he's been great at home!  I was afraid that this may just be one of his "good cycles"  but we are heading into two weeks now and he's still good.

I know three meds seems like a lot to have him on but they are all small doses and it seems to be working.  The Strattera has allowed us to cut the Ritalin in 1/2.  And that's what he needed because the higher dose of Ritalin aggravated him and made him emotional at times.  Our fingers are crossed that this "cocktail" will work for him!  I hope so because this switching meds thing sucks!

Thank you everyone for your kind words!  Things are still going well but we've had the stomach flu recently  and that puts even an ADHD kid on his back! So it's hard to tell with the flu going on???

Kathleen0515, a cruise! Really?!? That's awsome! I don't know if I would even try to take my little guy on one. That's great! And all with the first med you tried! How wonderful!  I hope it continues for you!

So glad to hear this. It is such a blessing to be able to find the right meds/vitamins/diet/etc. that work really well.
