focalin | ADHD Information

A spoon of applesauce with the pill sitting on top has done the trick for us. We tried practice with tic-tacs, we tried jelly, we tried ice cream, we even tried just water. Applesauce seems to have the best texture for just swallowing without chewing. But something else might be the golden ticket for your DD.Hi Serenamom, and welcome. If you do a search of the boards, preferably in the ADHD medications section, and enter focalin, you will find alot of posts about focalin which will give you alot of insight. I also use rxlist.com, it gives alot of info on various meds and also has alot of user reviews. The thing you have to remember is each child is so different, therefore their reaction to the meds will be different as well. We started our 5 yr old son on Focalin xr over Christmas break and it has overall been very effective. In school especially, there has been a vast improvement in his behavior. This is not to say there have not been side effects, but they are manageable and have improved with time. The extended release version of focalin comes in capsule form, so we open it and sprinkle it on a small spoonful of ice cream because our son won't swallow pills. I read here that some parents practice pill swallowing with skittles, so you might want to try that.
