Intuniv and stomach problems/brain balanc | ADHD Information

We have just started  a brain balance program, I'm not sure with rules on this website if I can post the name or not but of course I do not mind telling you.  We just started two weeks ago and of course we have not seen any results but this is a twelve week program done twice a day.  I have spoken to several people that have used this program and have seen great results, with focus, attention, coordination, etc., so we are keeping our fingers crossed, I don't think it will hurt to try.  My son is also on Intuniv and we have not expereinced any "pooping problems."  My son has always been constipation though and we sometimes use prune juice and epson salt baths, and this seems to do the trick.Could the "pooping problems" be from constipation? A lot of these ADHD meds can cause constipation but I don't know if Intuniv is one of them.  My son was having constipation problems and since it was hard for him to go he held it in.  The result was that he would also "drip".  We started him on probiotics and stool softeners and it went away.My son began intuniv 2 months ago.  I took him off because he was complaining of "pooping problems" then began dripping small amounts of BM.  I just put him back on because he was soooo hyper---much more hyper than he was before the intuniv---literally climbing the walls.  Has anyone had this side effect?  We are also getting him assessed for the brain balance program.  Has anyone tried that?

I was researching about INtuniv, which is what brought me to this thread. But my son has struggled with Encopresis for over two years now. The drip you are describing could be a symptom of that. It's important to try to get that under control soon. If it drags out like it has with mine then it just gets worse. He's almost 8 and had two "accidents" yesterday. Google Encopresis to learn more.

I wonder how much higher the rate of encopresis is among ADHD kids.

I'm new here, but my dd has just been diagnosed with Celiac Disease, which has a lot of symptoms like constipation, diarrhea, etc.  Perhaps this should be checked out?

I am also new here and I have a 10yo daughter that just started Intuniv 2 weeks ago.  While she's calmer and it seems to be working better than the Strattera,  she's had horrible headaches, stomach pain, and diarhea since going up to 2mg.  We originally thought the stomach pains and diarhea were from a stomach bug but a week later she is still having it.

I should also add that she has encoprisis and has been dealing with it since she was around 1 or so.   Even as an infant she had constipation problems.   I know many who have ADHD kids who have encoprisis and it is not uncommon.  However I don't think that is the case for her right now.

With the horrible headaches and stomach issues I don't think Intuniv is going to work for us.  I would be very interested in hearing about the brain balance though.
