Strattera- why so expensive?? | ADHD Information

Strattera is expensive isn't it!   There isn't a generic so I think that's how they get away with making it so expensive.  I have insurance but because it's not generic I pay /month.  I don't know of any discount programs but you could ask the pharmacist.  Or contact Eli Lilly-the company that makes the drug. Also, check our the "Help with prescription costs" thread above this one.  There are links to websites that may help.

I guess it is what it is, but its so expensive.  I really hope it helps.  Anyone know of any discounts or rebates or anything that can help with the expense? Thanks!!thanks! My co-pay is supposed to be 50.00 for that particular drug but thats only for 30- he has to take 2 18mg pill a day- so its gonna be 100 a month!! ugh...... so not fair!!

Hello connab. There is a generic form of Straterra:

Atomoxetine is a Selective Norepinephrine Reuptake Inhibitor.

Variants include Strattera, Strattera XR.

Oh wow, so there is a generic huh? Doc told me there wasn't...I'm definitely going to ask the doc about that one!  It makes a big difference when you're paying for three meds a month! Thanks!

All generics are not created equal, nor are all generics equal to name-brand in their effect.

I get acceptable results from one generic (though not aa good as from the name-brand); however, I get no results from the same generic by a different maker.

So monitor results when switching from name-brand to generic, and if the results from one generic aren't good enough--don't give up!...tell your pharmacist you want to try the generic by a different maker.
