Our appointment for daughter on 23rd was canceled so went yesterday.
The women is a social worker who also has a nurse who works with
patients, and others like a psychiatrist. Just to refresh, my daughter has
these episodes where she says she feels jiggly inside and just wants to rip
something up. She is an anxious 8 yr. old. She was diagnosed with
ADHD and has focus problems and struggles with math in school.
The social worker spoke with my husband and I and my daughter about
her problems. Later she talked to me alone and shared what she thought
is the problem from what she has heard. She said my daughter has social
anxiety, separation anxiety, and what sounds like a MOOD DISORDER.
When I looked up mood disorder, depression and bipolar is what was
mentioned. Bipolar in children sounded a lot like her. The only thing is -
her moods do not fluctuate by weeks or days, but remain constant - she
is happy until something little (or sometimes nothing we can put our
finger on) sets her off where she feels "jiggly". However, she seems to fit
the description of agitated, low self esteem, etc.
I am very concerned for her. Anyone have any advice or have a similar
diagnoses?
