Strattera | ADHD Information
Strattera is the next ADHD med that I'm supposed to try and I'm soooo scared! I've take Adderall, Focalin, and Daytrana. After the BAD reaction to Focalin, and the "old, consistent" Adderall that decided to send me into overdrive with side effects for THREE DAYS STRAIGHT during finals, I finally think I'm ready to try something new, now that the grades came back. I've never taken a long- term med before. I haven't heard many Strattera success stories. Can anyone tell me any? Or what to expect? Or their experiences- ANYTHING? Thank you!
Keke_1340237.7904513889My dd has been on Strattera since July 2009. She did fine on that alone during summer, but didn't have the focus needed for schoolwork (she was 6 at the time). We added low-dose stimulant Focalin 10mg and it worked for awhile, then stopped. This has been her pattern for a year now. We stayed on that regimen until Feb. '10. Started Strattera 36 mg. once a day with Vyvanse 20mg., worse results. NO focus, getting work done, etc. Has been off the vyvanse 3 days, but still on Strattera. Trying Strattera + Intuniv tomorrow.
We've had the tantrums, irritability, etc. on stims before, but not as bad for her when she is on Strattera alone.
Good luck!
Hi! My son was on Straterra for almost three months and the only reason he isn't still on it was that it aggravated his anxiety issues. I still think that if we can find a way to deal with the anxiety we will go back to Straterra, because it helped immensely with his impulsiveness and concentration. He was really starting to shine at school and had made friends and everything.
I also have an adult friend with ADHD who's had the best results with Straterra (of all the typical meds), but it's very expensive and he can't always afford it. I think that Straterra works very well for those who don't respond great to stims. At least that was the case for my son. I noticed a difference LONG before the six week mark. I actually saw improvement within ONE week! I hope this is helpful.
