Hello and Welcome DollyMann!! You've come to the right place for support, advice, or sympathy (lol). This board has been a mental/emotional life-saver for me. Sometimes I just need a shoulder to cry on and sometimes I need answers to specific questions. I usually always find someone here who has been there, or understands.

I have not tried Concerta with my son, but I know that on the medications forum, there are lengthy threads about almost every med out there. Try changing your settings to see older posts, or doing a specific search and you should be able to find any and all information you might need. That's what I did when I first found this site and I spent almost two days just reading and re-reading what others are/were going through.

I hope you find your way to the answers your looking for. Don't give up...I know others will see your post and add their two-cents as well. Good luck and know that we are all here for you as we hope you will be for us as well!

my son has been on concerta for the past 6 1/2 years and doing awesome.

He is adHHHHHHHHHHHHd and impulsive. He also takes guanfacine to help with the impulsiveness.

How is he doing? What dose is he on?

My son will be 13 on June 27th. He is on 104mgs of concera and 1 mg of guanfacine.

What dose is your son on? How is it going??

Currently he is on 18mg n doing well in our point of view.  Unfortunately, the teachers feedback was like she see no changes in his behavior/performance.

At this point of time we are not going to get him on the higher dosage as we will soon be getting the therapist to work with him & may be able to see how he goes with it.

Too low, call for an increase.

Or, try doubling it tomorrow - give him two 18mgs to reach 36mgs, which is still low for a 13 yr old.

Tell the doctor your thoughts!!

I understand what the teacher means that there is no change, 18mg is really, really, low.

Bethann- I requested an increase of concerta from 27 to ???, over the phone with the dr and they told me that it would cause more aggressiveness and we'd have to add a second med to combat it. Have you noticed any other behaviors with your son being on the 104's and what is the guanfacine? Also how long did it take to get to 104mg from the baseline of 18mg? It seems like our dr makes us wait at least a wk before making any changes. Thanks for any info you can give!

HIs current dosage is from him starting 6 -1/2 years ago at 18mgs. When he was in 2nd grade, he leveled off at 54mg, then went to 72 from 3rd until 5th. Then up to 90mg from 5th-this past fall, around november. He then went to 108.

He started at half a pill of guanfacine in 2nd grade but half way through the year, he needed an increase. He has been at 1mg since the end of 2nd grade.

Again, he will be 13 this coming June 2010.

You want to go to 36mg. Every one is different, how their body handles the meds. You will only know once you try it. THat is what our psychopharm. says. How else can you tell?

do you have any 18mgs?

My son started concerta a few weeks ago. We started the 18's with no improvement, then went to 27mg. The first few days it seemed to help, but now being a little over a week, it appears not to be as effective as expected. I did notice on the 18mg he would rebound around 4pm. The 27's seem to last longer but when he comes off of it in the evening he can become intolerable. The dr warned us of agressive behavior following the concerta so we will discuss that at our next appt. Hope this little bit of info is helpful to you.I just started my 8yr old on concerta today 18mg. It didnt seem to do anything for him. Im not sure how long I should keep him on it or how long i should wait to call the Dr. Im still so new to all this.... Im still learning everyday!!! Good luck to ya hun and like the others say you come to the right place![QUOTE=chihuahua]My son started concerta a few weeks ago. We started the 18's with no improvement, then went to 27mg.
