ADD medKrista, Everybody's brain chemisty is different therefore you can't antisipate what effects it may have on your daughter. I take adderall myself and had side effects at first such as sleeplessness and a little irritated but they wore off. I was just diagnosed at 27 years old and it's been an emotional world wind for me. Your daughter is so lucky to have been diagnosed early. I was one who suffered in silence dealing with a low self-esteem and depression because I wasn't diagnosed. Also I read somthing recently that said there are studies that show that children that were on stimulant meds actually showed mended pathways in the brain. The pathways that are irregular causing ADD. Anyway If your daughter doesn't complain, then I wouldn't worry. i just wanted to say that i am 13 (girl) and i am on adderall and it works great for me! i have been on it for about 4 months, started out with 10 mg but a couple weeks later decided to go to 20 mg. its way better. and there are no bad side effects at all...well atleast for me. i actually feel really good when im on it and dont mind taking it in the morning. i have noticed lots of weight loss and loss in appitite. but there are no bad side effects. i know this is a weird question but does anyone know if when u are on adderall that it is hard to gain weight? b/c i dont eat anything junky cus i dont wana gain any weight, even though i'm skinny. but if its hard to gain weight than i can eat that stuff sometimes! so if anyone knows, please tell me!Adderall really reduces your appitite and you eat a lot lessthat's why you lose weight. I have to admit since I started taking it I have let my self eat what ever I want. I had absolutly no appitite so I would eat what ever sounded good muffins, mash potatoes, chocolate milk. There was very little I found appealing to eat so I was eating junk. You can allow yourself to have treats you may normally not have eatin because you're not eating as much food. I only did this for a couple weeks while I let the side effects settle. Having a proper nutritious diet is really important espesially for add-ers. So now I concentrate on eating nutrients. I make smoothies with fruit and milk wheat germ ect. there great. Also if I feel like I can't choke down my veggies I'll put a cheese or butter sauce on them because I know I can afford the calories. Hope this helps. lanette- did u still lose weight when u ate anything u wanted to? or did u remain the same weight?Trackbabe, It's all about caloric intake and out take. Too mant calories means gaining weight too few means loosing. It also depends on your metabolism! I lost a little bit of weight and I was eating junk food, but over all I was consuming fewer calories ya see. |
