The wonderful things about my daughter, age 8:
*loves to get out and do things with her family - no couch potato here.
*loves to talk and share her day with us.
*tells me she loves me all throughout the day.
*is a fashion diva and even gets me to dress up sometimes.
*is very creative and writes the most amazing stories.
*is so sensitive and loving - she always cries watching sad movies.
Most of all, I can feel that she loves us with all of her heart, and it's always
nice to feel that!

Great posts everyone. Very inspiring

The great thing about ADD kids is that they never loose their enthusiasm for discovery and novelty.

When ADD kids they grow up, they're
not "grown-ups"...
they are still a kid inside, and always will be!

He's sensitive, compassionate, thinks of others before himself, never wants anyone to feel left out or excluded because he knows how it feels, intelligent, creative, unique, asset to society. I am blessed to be the mother of this fine 12 year old.Corrina, He sounds like a fantastic kid! Thanks for posting this. I'm having "one of those days" (maybe one of those years...) and I needed this!

My daughter is
- joyful
- forgiving
- caring
- creative
- a free spirit
- funny

When she didn't get a part in the school play, she took it 10x better than I did. She lets things slide off her. When she thinks about something, she makes all kinds of connections that I would never think of. She sings beautifully. She also loves animals and isn't judgmental.
She is sweet and delightful!

What a wonderful topic!  Thanks Corrina for starting this thread!

  1. My son is only 5 but his is the most kind and compassionate little boy-way beyond his years.
  2. He's such a happy boy!  When his ADHD isn't getting in the way he's ALWAYS happy and smiling
  3. He's soooo creative and loves putting things together and taking them apart.  This will work great for him when he gets older.
  4. His hyperfocusing helps him with these sorts of projects and he does very well with them!
  5. He's EXTREMELY intelligent!
  6. And best of all...he's mine!

So much of what you hear about kids with ADHD is negative and scary.
But that's not all of what ADHD is about!

Here are some great things about my ADHD kid:
He's compassionate - he feels deeply about everyone, and is tuned in to
their emotions, even when it appears otherwise.
He'll never be a couch potato!
He's creative - that mind of his is always going a mile a minute.
He can think outside the box.
I'll never hear "I"m bored!" - are you jealous yet, all you non-ADHD moms
and dads?
He hyperfocuses - my son does it while reading - he would finish a 100+
page book in a night when he was 6!
He's kind to all animals.
He doesn't judge people - he sees the good in everyone.

What are some great things about your ADHD kid?

Love this topic!

Our 7 yr old DS is:

*very caring and has a huge heart

*smart beyond his years, his teachers are amazed at how ahead of himself academically he is.

*loves to read, do puzzles, create and build things w/Legos...he's going to be our engineer someday!

*Very forgiving

*creative & artistic

*still loves to give hugs & kisses to show he cares

As hard as it is to get through some days, each night when I lay with him after reading stories, I am reminded of how amazed I am that he is mine & how special he is

Great topic! Keep it going everyone :)i think you people are writing about me!!!  Thanks!!! Love this thread as well. I have truly been trying to not focus on the negatives so much, and this reminds me to keep it up! My 6.5 yr-old wonder boy:

*Is a born actor/director/producer
*Is creative and good at implementing that creativity
*Loves science of all kinds
*Loves to build/construct "traptions" (the next Rube Goldberg!)
*Has an incredibly rich vocabulary
*Is very sensitive and caring
*Truly sees the positive side of life >90% of the time

I am sure I could think of more, as I used to revel in his imagination and energy before he started school, but I think this is a good start!

Zac is very caring about others. Always wants to give ANY extras we have to others.

He's VERY helpful. Not just to me, but others. Loves to shovel and mow for neighbors "just because" not for money.

Great with younger kids.

Loves to help dad be mr. fix it.

A generally happy guy.

Even with the bad times, i wouldn't trade him for anything!!!!!

My son is great because:

> he drips with empathy! (I recently had thyroidectomy, and every day he gets off the bus and says, Mom! Your incision is healing nicely!)

>he likes almost everyone, until they give him a reason to not like them, and then he'll like them again tomorrow.

>he's funny!

>he's got a sense of style (and lots of hair product to go with it)!

>he is opinionated, so I never have to worry that he's being led around by other kids.
