I'm 21 and have ADD (predominately inattentive, not hyperactive). I'm starting on meds in a few weeks time and my mum read that the food you eat can help ADD. I have to admit I was sceptical as hell!
But anyway, 2 weeks later and I have quit smoking, and had not eaten cola, chocolate, sweets or anything with heaps of preservatives since then.
Today I had chocolate in the morning, and I was cranky as hell- really noticed the difference to the point where mum asked if I'd had any chocolate. Then I had a diet coke this afternoon and felt completely scattered... I can't believe I'm going to have to give up my vices!
That said, I have felt a lot better (asides from a little crabby from non smoking!) and have been excersising more.
Anyone got any opinions/similar stories?

Congrats on quiting smoking! and all your other "vices." They're all things that are addictive stimulants, and even people who are not ADD/ADHD are better off without. You say you "have felt a lot better," has your focus been better, too?
GypsyWomyn38358.4097222222If your taking a stim and aren't hyper usually adding more caffiene makes you whacky. I an newly diagnosed ADD and anxiety and was told to RADICALLY change my diet
