ritalin + chestpain | ADHD Information

Hello All,

I'm 22 years old and I have ADD since I was a child. From grade school to High school I was on Ritalin. Upon entering college, I got lazy and stopped taking my meds. I was able to do well tests etc with out them.

Now, 3.5 years after being off, I am thinking of starting again since my problems never really went away and the ability to not focus is causing my 3.7GPA to slip.

So, I started to take half the doesage of what I was originally perscribed since my tolerance is now lower. So I take 10mg instead of 20mg. However, I got a new side effect that I did not have as a child: Center Chest Pain.

I'm not sure if this centered chest pain is too much concern, but it does bother me some. Thanks for any input.
It's an unopened bottle I had from right before I stopped taking it.
I am taking half the dosage... I was at 20mg 3x day now I do 10mg 2 or 3/day.

The bottle did expire in 2006, but i've taken several expired meds before..

Where did you get the ADHD medication since you have been off it for 3.5 years? Meds should be given and managed under the direction and supervision of a medical doctor who is a specialist. Any stimulant, taken in high doses, (not normally lower doses like 10mg) can cause such a side effects.  Seek medical help and dont self administer any medication. Chest pain can be triggered by an over dose of any stimulant, including diet pills which could lead to cardiac arrest so it should be of major concern to you. Speak to a doctor asap. Good luck.
