My son has been diagnosed with OCD. We've been in therapy but it hasn't helped much. I've been on the fence with taking prescription drugs and have also been stonewalled by the physcian to prescripe. I've recently heard of St. John's Wort. I'm wondering about the side effects as well as if anyone has had any positive results. My son is suffering greatly and I can't seem to find the help we need. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
I was on the fence too. But after speaking extensively with my psychiatrist and my daughter's my view has changed. Also done lots of research on my own. I have always been one for alternative treatments but have not found any conclusive evidence that SJW helps either depression or ADD/ADHD. Why not give the meds a try. I tried different meds with my daughter until we found the right one. Strattera seems to work the best for her and it is a non-stimulant which makes me feel better.
