I need help! | ADHD Information
dear mamamia..
thanks for your respond..
i had a meeting with the therapist that my son goes to.. and she is against the medication.. she is telling me about the side effects which i read about.. it wasn't a productive meeting at all!!
i'll be seeing the psychologist on 8th of april.. and i'm really worried .. i don't know whether to go for medication or not!! and my husband is not supporting me.. he refuses to discuss it even!!
While we have not tried meds, I would not be opposed. From what I've read
on this site, many have seen huge improvements with meds. Sometimes,
many meds have been tried before finding the one with minimum side
effects and good results, and sometimes a combo of meds is needed. Good
luck.Dearest Hana,
This must be so difficult for you. It is hard enough for those of us who have children with ADHD to help them through the day, but without support it can seem impossible. If I were you, I would ask the psychologist for medications, but that is just my own opinion. We tried a number of things for my son before we decided to try medications.
Unfortunately, we have had a long and exhausting journey to try and find the right medication. But, my son has some issues other than just ADHD, and the medications caused anxiety and mood swings. But I have heard so MANY wonderful stories of parents who have had success with stimulants. The other important factor for us is his social skills class and his psychotherapy.
It sounds like you have had some positive results from the therapy. Even if the psychologist agrees to medication, I think it would be beneficial to keep going to the therapy sessions. Perhaps, though, with medication you would be able to skip a week without causing a relapse of inappropriate behaviors. Then you could take a vacation!!!!
dear everyone..
