Has anyone had any luck with Paxil and an ADHD med? My son's self worth and esteem are suffering bad, and I'd heard different things about Paxil. Some people had said it's OK for children, others differ. Any ideas?
Hi Suzyq, How old is your child? I have personal experience with Paxil. I'm 41 years old, have taken it for about 5 years (smallest dosage 10mg). I take it for anxiety, not depression. I would never, ever, ever give this medication to my child. He is 12 years old. If I forget to take it for a couple of days, I have these crazy sensations that go thru my head. A child is to young to handle this kind of medication anyway, in my opinion. Not to mention, Paxil is an anti-depressant/anti-anxiety med. I can't imagine how this drug could help with the problems your child is experiencing. Hope things work out.

I would suggest to really research and also take him to psychotherapy befor you decide to put him on medication because it really really works and medication is a very hard road to take.I agree with the above messages. Seek help and investigate the drug Paxil. I would personally never ever put a child on Paxil. Isn't Paxil a drug for Adult use only? Our medical information may be different to yours in the US but I believe Paxil has been taken off the market here. I really don't think Paxil is your solution to your child's problems with ADHD. There two different problems. Seek more information. Best of luck.
