Great Day | ADHD Information

I just wanted to let a lot of the newcomers know that things do get better.  Yesterday as we driving to the psychiatrist and I was telling my daughter how proud I was of her going to all these doctor appointments and taking her medicine.  Her response was it is really not that bad having ADHD and she likes her life the way it is and wouldn't want to trade her life with anyone.  It almost made me cry.

My dd has been on medicine for a year now.  Before medicine she had no friends and was terribly unhappy and just played on the computer most of the time.  I have to say at first when she was on the medicine she seemed almost too quiet but over time she has adjusted to the medicine and has grown into a very nice girl with some good friends and most importantly is happy.

Good luck to all.

Nice post and thank you for the update.

I agree with you, happy is most important!

You are very upbeat and should be very proud. what a great attitude to have. Kudos! Thanks for the nice responses from each of you.  It is true what a difference a year can make.   This board has been a lifesaver for me.  Thanks again.  Well, what a difference a year can make. I would be proud of her too. I just love to hear about these success stories! And I think it's important for all of us newcomers because it gives us the encouragement to keep hanging in there and give the meds time to work. I know I see a big difference with our son just in the 3 1/2 months with the side effects decreasing now. Of course, that's not to say that anyone should accept serious reactions to the medicine, but it's realistic to expect some initial change in personality, eating habits, sleeping habits, and so on.... but it often does get better! So happy you had a great day!
