problems with focalin | ADHD Information

He was on 30 mg of metadate. On the focalin he was extremely hyper by 1 pm and talking jibberish. Completely non-compliant. I just don't feel it was the right fit. Metadate was working until 3 or so and he has rebound on itOur son, age 6, started on 10 mg of the focalin xr 3 1/2 mths ago and it is working well for him. Is your son on the short acting or the xr? I have heard a few stories about kids not doing well on the short acting, but doing fine on the xr, and visa versa. We never had the reaction you described, if anything it was the opposite in the beginning. Not really zoned out but just a little flat and disconnected. That's all gone now as is the rebound he experienced in the beginning. It lasts about 7 or 8 hrs. Is his poor behavior all morning with the focalin, or just around 1 pm? What has your doctor said?

anyone else not happy w/fcoalin? My 6-year old was on metadate for a year and then it started to wear off too early. We were switched to focalin last week and his behavior has been awful--not listening to anything we say, horrible at school and extremely hyper...

not sure if i should take him off it or it takes a while to work. he's on 15 mg

What dose was working on the Metadate?  15 mg of Focalin is the equivalent of 30 mg of Metadate.
