Hey it's been a while since I have been on with the group. I am so sorry to hear you are having continued problems. My son if you remember is the same age as yours and very similiar issues. Since he went off the Adderall and is has been on the Concerta 54 this past year he has actually grown 2 inches and has gain weight. I think it's been because at night he will usually eat a small dinner but then come 7-8pm that's all he wants to do is eat. And I've just allowed it. Know to be honest I'm wondering if I have just help to create a bad habit because really now he has a gut and is a little hefty. Not overly so and as the doctor puts it he is making it up. I'm hoping by this summer he will be more active and tone it.
What else has been going on? We starting two weeks ago therepy for anxiety again and last night that doctor started suggesting General anxiety disorder along with his ADHD and said maybe talking to the pychiatrist about medication for that. I am very leary and would rather not just jump to another medication. I feel like sometimes I am chasing my tail and just don't know what to do. My husband just thinks that most of these doctors just don't care and do the easiest thing (med). I don't know. Sometimes I think maybe I'm just over reacting or over partenting and wonder if I am doing the right stuff with him. But he tells me things he doesn't tell any one else and I know that there are social issues because no one is contacting him to come over and he isn't calling any one else.
Parenting is definately the hardest job out there!!!
I'm with you, Parenting is the hardest job out there. My son has anxiety Disorder pretty bad. he was on Zoloft for years before the adhd meds. He is also taking Intuniv (long acting Tenex). and it isn't helping as well as I would have thought. He is anxious most of the time but also has delusiond of grandious lol he thinks he knows everything and doesn't listen to us for annything
I backed up to 2 mg on the intuniv. I am hoping he will be better today ay yay yay yay yay!!!!!it is alot of fine tuning when it comes to meds and dosages my DS is on concerts 72 wondering if he needs more at this point but I feel that he is still so small.
heck gals IDK what the answer is and I am just as frustrated as eveyrone else the doc knows that I am not up at 9pm and called last night anyway. He said back down to 2 mg for the tiredness.
He is giving up on school.it is hard. good luck to all you out there dealing with this.
spamula, is he willing to eat once the stimulants are worn off? My child eats a big breakfast before taking his Metadate CD and Intuniv, doesn't eat much for lunch, and then he eats two dinners in the evening. (He also takes Zoloft, Allegra, Nasonex, and flax capsules.)This is the problem, he has never been an eater during the day but he ate good in the evenings. Now the therapist has said to let it go and as long as he eats a pnut butter sandwich with an aple he will be fine. He eats nothing else at night . I think this really stinks but the therapist said it would have to be DS's choice if he wants to eat ant night or not. He needs the control back in his life, iI guess he has been feeling like he has no control ie we are pretty strict parents. We are now told to back off and let him fail or ferret it out for him self. He does eat 2 bowls of cereal and milk or waffles in the morning. the best meal of the day , before the meds. I filled his little bag with some healthy snacks and we shall see what happens today. Eating has never been much of an issue before the Intuniv which the psych says is not from that.He won't waste away to nothing. He will get used to the medication and will
