Wasted Wakeful Sporadic Spurts | ADHD Information

Sometimes I partly wake up, after some 3 or 4 hours of sleep.  I usualy just continue to lie in bed, daydreaming, and eventualy go back to sleep.  Then when it comes time to get up earlier, because I went to bed early, I stay asleep, and hit the snooze, or set the alarm for an hour later.

I can be productive if I get up early, in treh morning.  When I get home from work, my level of concentraiton is insufficient to get much of anything done.

I sometimes will drink a half cup of coffee, then work for a while, then nap, then have another work spurt, as morning approaches.

For the past week, I have been feeling behind in some things, so I should try to be more productive.  I intend to drink some coffee when I wake up way too early, and then maybe get myself more awake, with a few simple stretches/exercises.  Then, I can then try to envison tasks being worked on.

[QUOTE=kjl2691]Otter - Could it be the coffee (even in the morning) that's waking you up at night?  I can't remember if you're on meds but that could cause the waking up too.  Could you possibly stay up later at night so you don't wake up at 3am?  One thing that has really helped me is turning my clock around at night.  Yes, I still have moments of waking up early or at some ungodly hour but it's not nearly as bad as it used to be.

I have found that in the evenings, my brain energy is spent.  i just want to be a total couch potato.  i don't do well with appointments in the evening time.  last night i had to stay after work for a meeting and didn't get home till almost 630.  then on thursday there's another meeting after work.  we still need to get to the grocery store but my daughter doesn't get off work till 7 tonight and so we won't go tonight.  i need that "down" time, ya know?

i would suggest not stressing too much about the things that you've fallen behind on.  get your sleeping back in shape and the rest will follow. :)

Thanks for the prespective.  I am doing ok getting enough slep for my health.  I am not on meds, just a half cup of non-acid coffee, 2 to 3 times a day.

I am interested in utilizing my wakeful periods more effectively, and getting started being productive earler in any wakeful cyces, that might occur.
