Adderall side effects-are they normal? | ADHD Information

Share
My 6 year old son started taking Adderall 10mg Saturday and, since then, he has had the following issues...
Saturday he was complaining of nausea, barely ate, falling asleep before supper but was woken up to eat (barely ate) then went back to sleep
Sunday-vomited, sniffing a lot (is this an Adderall side effect??)
Monday- sniffing constantly in school (told teacher he didn't know why),vomited two times, complained of a headache
Today- would barely eat, drank water and a couple bites of cereal and vomited

Is this normal? Should I stop the medicine? He was taking Strattera for the 3 weeks before this and I was giving it at supper. It seemed to be helping a little but would it have been better to have given him the Strattera in the AM? We didn't see any side effects with the Strattera. But, are these Adderall side effects temporary and is it normal to be happening like this?Yikes! I'm new to this as well, but that does not sound normal, unless he has
a bug simultaneously causing him to vomit? I would stop if it were me, but
call doc asap and even the pharmacist to help you determine hat to do. You
could also look up adderall, and see what info the
website gives you. If you can't get a professionals advice asap, go with your
gut regarding what you should do for your chid...good luck! Luvmykids0240288.929224537Welcome jamieth. The nausea and vomiting can be a side effect of this med or maybe he had a virus comming on at the same time. Such side effects are ususally temporary though. You can stop the adderall temporarily if symptoms persist and in the mean time speak with your local pharmacist and your childs doctor. Stimulant meds cant be stopped and started at any time because they are not blood level medications. Most children dont fall asleep on stimulant meds. Its actually the opposite. They have trouble getting to sleep because the med is a stimulant, not a sedative. Again, perhaps its a 24 hour virus and if it is the meds, your child's doctor will advise you. I hope your son feels better soon. please keep us posted.Jamieh,

I hope things are better and you got some answers from your doc or
pharmacist. My son did fall asleep on Vyvnance when the dose was too
high, so it's certainly possible that the sleepiness is related to the med, in
addition to the possibility of it being due to a virus. keep us posted!
