Started the diagnosis process | ADHD Information

To concentrate really. At my job there in minimal
concentration and it's not in a stressful environment.

Are there any local ADHD groups near me? Probably not. It's
a small town , but I do post on another ADD forum.

Why do you want ritalin?

Have you attended any local ADHD groups? 

What do other ADHD people recommend for you?  Are here any freinds you can make to share the challenges of the effects of medicatons? 

Psychiatrists have to write the perscription, but that does not mean they have the best experience of knowing what will work for you.  Psycholigists and social workers spend more time dealing with the effects of the drugs.

 Whether you are fully certifiable ADHD, or only partially ADHD, what problems do you seek to address with medication?

Yesterday I saw my psychiatrist for a possible diagnosis of
ADHD-PI.
He wants to trial me on Ritalin. I need to get it approved
because the drug has been restricted because people have
abused it in the past. Then he wants me to get an MRI, CAT
scan and do some more tests. Hopefully there's an IQ test
in there.
Hopefully I can be diagnosed in under 6 months.How is getting all these additional tests going to help make a diagnosis?  I just can't comprehend that.  All that's needed for an accurate diagnosis is a complete history of your life and the questions listed in the DSM-IV pertaining to ADHD.  Why do doctors feel that you have to undergo all these tests?  Noone has been able to give me a solid reason.

And the diagnosis shouldn't take 6 months!  My Lord!
He asked me about head injuries and I did mention something
about mental exhaustion, so he wants to rule other things
out. Maybe I should have kept my mouth closed.

The 6 months thing is just me exaggerating. There might be
a long waiting list on the CAT scan unless I pay for it.
Though I don't see a need for a CAT scan if I get an MRI.
