Just thought I would share an update of what's going on with Landon, we're still trying to figure out what meds or combination works best. First he was on ritalin, but not for long he was having tantrums and being more violent, next he went on Tenex by itself, which helped a little but he still wasn't there so the doctor added Adderall to the Tenex, which so far was the best, since starting kindergarten his teacher has been doing a smiley frowny face chart with him to show him what he needs to work on and to let us know how each day is going with him at school, while on the adderall and tenex he had 2 weeks straight with ALL smileys, every day!!! However at the end of the day he became emotional and the slightest things would send him into an uncontrollable crying fit, they played with changing the times he received the medications, and dose but couldn't fix this side effect so now we're switching to Intuniv by itself though docs said most likely we'll be adding a stimulant back again after trying it alone first.
I got to go home and see my family in March (I'm currently working overseas

) and at that time he was on the adderall but they were still tweaking it, but I got to watch him for a little while at school and he was doing better at that time. but he was also having the side effects i mentioned earlier, though since daddy being home meant that we got to go do all kinds of fun things there wasn't a whole lot to set him off, that hasn't been the case since.
I go home again in a month and a half and at that time we're taking a family vacation and going fishing which Landon loves, so i'm hoping that by then since we're now switching it up again that we're at least on the right track so he can enjoy his fishing trip.
First day on Intuniv alone was no good, was sent to the office at school for hitting another young boy, played well later in the afternoon with some of the neighbor kids but started acting out again at dinner, he was definitely ancy, couldn't sit still and when he did was still swinging his feet fiddling etc. He hasn't been this hyperactive for quite a while... this process of figuring out what medication is going to work best is no fun and i'm not even the one at home dealing with it!!
For those of you that have shared this experience how long did it take for you to "get it right?" Once you do find the right medication, is it as wonderful as I imagine it to be?

We have been working for 3 years to get it right. My son 11, is also on Intuniv we have been up and down with the dose as he has had these knee jerk fits and reactions to things out of the ordinary . So we dropped from 3 down to 2 and still haveing tiredness so I put him back on 1mg to see if that helped at all. It is all based on his performance at school and just got a grand reort card. I am hoping the 1mg will be enough for him as he is sensitive.
