Is it best to gradually wean off a stimulant (metadate) or go cold turkey/
I want to give my son a break from his meds while school is on break...but I tried this last summer and he was bouncing off the walls for days ...
My son doesn't take stims, but I've heard over and over that you have to wean. If there is too abrupt a drop, there can be reactions with heart rhythms, etc. Ask his doctor how to drop down...like half a pill, then a quarter, or what.I would check with the doc. I think it's probably more improtant to wean with medications like Strattera or Tenex than with stims but I'm not sure so definately ask the doc.
