I worked to make a list of ideas for improving the computer systems at work. I was going to leave the list of ideas for others to review. Then I realized that my supervisors might take the ideas as criticism. So I placed the copies of the list back in my files, so I can manage the release of the ideas, to attempt a positive reception.
Several times in the past, I remember that I have expressed ideas, in the presence of others, without intending to crticize anyone, but shortly after I explained my idea, I realized that my expressing that idea, in front of the people who happened to be there, could have been viewed as criticism.
So one key to expressing ideas, might be to manage who is listening, when I present my ideas. Often, I am bubbling up with an idea, and feel an urgency to express the idea, but it might be better to pull out my pocket spiral notes, and jot down the idea, for presentation later.
