Back again and still desperate!!!!!!! | ADHD Information

The school thought my son had ODD, and it was just his ADHD coming
out. Your son sounds impulsive and is trying to cover for it after the fact
vs being straight out ODD. I'm not a doctor! But having been there, I
recommend getting to the bottom of the ADHD before trying something
else. For example, my son has a sensory integration disorder, but we
didn't do anything about it until we got his ADHD in check, because he
might not have had it. We thought he had dysgraphia - his handwriting
improved when he could focus - no further work was necessary.

About the destructiveness - sounds about par to me. Kids fidget to burn
off energy. It takes a lot of forms.

Again - call the doctor, explain all these issues, and see about adjusting
or changing his medication. He, and you, deserve to get this under
control.

Good luck!

I sent a post earlier and being in a rush, I forgot to mention a few things.

Does anyone's child break, tear or cut their belongings? My son has cut a small cut into his school jacket and pulls threads from his socks which end up with holes from his fingers going through them. My son by the way, denie's doing it!

Is it normal for children to PICK at their sores. my son constantly picks at his sores and cracked lips. The sore ends up bleeding and getting worse. Not sure if this is normal or not or whether it's related to anxiety issues (which I beleive my son may have as well)

One of the more serious incidents to occur at school was a few books "dacking" (pulling down each others shorts to their ankles whilst others around). The teacher advised not to ever do it again and half an hour later my son does it to one of those boys and gets disciplined for it. I have also been spoken to by the principal for this (just today) however, when I talk to my son about it after school (half an hour ago) he denies it and says this other boy did it to him.

In my previous post I mentioned parents of a classmate had a meeting with teacher and principal today and when I tried to discuss that with my son (apparantly my son had been teasing this boye etc) my son denies and says this boy is being mean to him.

I'm at a loss, I dont know why my son turns everything around, denies everything and puts the blame onn others for it all. It is my son who is at the main focus of all the "issues" going on with the boys in his class. I am wondering whether my son has ODD (oppositional defiance disorder) as they often denies all blame and put the blame onto others.

Any advice as I just feel so down and reduced to tears.
