Help w/ swallowing tablets | ADHD Information

My son has been prescribed Concerta tablets 36mg. He CAN take a tablet whole -- I've seen him do it. As adhd parents come to find....there is a defiance issue I'm dealing with as well. He refuses to take the tablet and spits it back out. I have tried hiding it in food such as yogurt and oatmeal...but he's onto me! We've done the syrup for 2 years now...it's just not cost effective anymore. Does anyone have any tips on how to help a child comply/learn how to take tablets better? Thanks for all your help We use a mini 3 musketeer bar ( I split it in half and eat the other half).  Not great parenting...but works. With my son it was a control issue for a while. He wanted control and showed it by not wanting to take the pills. For a while nothing really helped but then I decided to stop the power struggle with him.  What I started doing was giving him a choice (and both choices involve him taking his pills) "Do you want to take your medicine before or after you brush your teeth?" or "Do you want to take your medicine before or after you get dressed?" I know it sounds silly but it made him feel like he had control and he became more compiant.  I didn't care which option he chose as long as he took his pills!
