Hair Pulling | ADHD Information

Thanks for giving us your information as well!  The stress seems to have gotten better lately and she has quit pulling at her hairs recently but we are definitely keeping a close eye on her.  Now that school is out we are taking a break from her meds for the summer so we'll see if the break from the stimulants makes a difference as well.  Again thanks to everyone for your support.  None of this is easy but having people to turn to to ask questions makes such a big difference.  THANK YOU!Thanks so much for the response.  The stress seems to have gone down a little lately and her hair pulling has also gone down so I think you're probably right.  It probably is anxiety which the medication may be intensifying.  I will be mentioning it to her doctor.  Once again, thanks for your advice!You're welcome and hopefully your doc can help her out!  Keep us posted about how she's doing. My daughter developed OCD after she started ADD meds.  She has always had anxiety, but stimulants make it so much worse.  Instead of hair pulling my DD(15) picks her skin.  She was on 200mg of Zoloft along with Vyvanse, but we decided to take her off of all stimulants, she has tried a few, and put her on Intuniv.  That worked, not as well as a stim, but it lessened her anxiety.  She is taking a med break right now, and will probably start Luvox CR in the fall along with Intuniv.   She has also had cognitive behavioral therapy to help with the OCD.  Just watch your DD carefully, pulling can be a behavior of OCD, which has been much harder to manage than ADD.  My son hasn't had hair pulling but he has anxiety and his ADHD meds make it worse.  It's possible the hair pulling is from anxiety. If it continues definitely let the doctor know.  My son takes Tenex along with his Ritalin to help with the anxiety.

My daughter is currently taking 36 mgs of concerta and has been on this dose for at least 5 months now.  We just noticed that she has started pulling out some of her eyelashes and eyebrows.  She also has stresses from a bully at school so I am unsure as to whether or not this has been caused from her medication or from the stresses from school.  Has anyone had anything similar to this from any sort of ADHD meds?
