summer camp | ADHD Information
So I was really getting nervous about my son transitioning to summer day
camp in a new location with all new kids, and he was a bit of a handful for
the last couple days of school and over the weekend, but he did fantastic
today! We got there an hour early so I could help him settle in, but he went
right up to a kid and asked them to play, and they were off - and so was I,
early to work when I feared I'd never make it in. When I picked him up this
afternoon he was ready to go, and he had a ton of bumps and bruises - lack
of focus in the new surroundings - but he can't wait to go back tomorrow.
Phew! Dodged a bullet there!Great! I hope he has a blast this summer. Remember that kids will go through a "honeymoon" phase when starting things like summer camp or a new daycare. You may not get his true reaction for a few days, but even then any negative feelings will probably be temporary. We used to see it in new kids at day care (especially in the schoolaged kids) all the time. I hope he meets lots of fun people! Good for him! I hope it continues!
