Running Off | ADHD Information
I am curious if this is a symptom of ADHD or something else. Do any of your kids run off when something frustrates them or when they get angry or in trouble? I haven't seen it listed as a symptom but I have heard a lot of parents mentioning this. I know it was a major problem for us at one point. Just wondering and thanks for any responses.yeah my daughter runs off, leaves the house, etc when she is cross, upset
Yep!
Both of my boys do this.... but they don't actually run
off.... stomping off to their rooms or upstairs away from
"mean ole, worstest mommy of the world" is more like it...
;)
But, I think a lot of my kids' issues with this is just
normal KID stuff, not necessarily ADHD stuffMy son runs, and he paces when he talks. I think the physical outlet helps
him focus.
My son runs off... rather than take a time out or talk about his behavior. He has run out in the snow without shoes in his pajamas. Today he ran outside in just his underware. In, two minutes he has basically cooled off and comes in ...
He has a very HIGH "fight or flight" response.
My DS will scream and stomp off to his room, and will tear off all the bedding on his bed and somtimes throw things. He recently broke his fan, due to throwing it. Yes! My daughter does that and then calls me into a room and whispers to
me. She is trying to make sense of it all so tries to explain why she is
acting/feeling the way she does, but embarrassed to have anyone hear her
explanation except me.
She knows running and being extremely upset is often an over reaction. I
think she gets extremely embarrassed and just needs to run, maybe it's that
fight or flight response.
