120 mg ritalin too much? | ADHD Information

Share
My son is 5 and about 50 lbs. The max per day that he took was around 25 mgs. Now he only takes a total of 10 mg per day because he also takes Strattera.

My son is 7 and takes 40 mg of ritalin 3 X daily.  I know the recommended daily dosage (per manufacturer website) is not to exceed 60 mg per day.  Seeing as how we're double that, I'm curious to know how much other children are taking.  My son is doing well at this dose... but I happened to read that info on the ritalin webpage this morning and it raised a concern...

thoughts? opinions?

thanks!

Just a side note...with regard to stimulant meds, dose is not determined based on weight. Reaction  and response to the medication is based on individual response. To gain the most knoweldge about ADHD meds, you might want to speak with your pharmacist or a psychiatrist who is an expert in med management. The goal is maximum benenfit with minimal side effects but there is not a one size fits all. Hope this helpsMy son is 12, weighs 92lbs, and is taking 15mg twice a day.
