4 hours and 37 minutes - that's how long it took this school year for me
to get a call from my son's teacher.
They changed the bus routes, and my son insisted that he was supposed
to take his old bus (45) instead of his current bus (5). He was so
persuasive that his teacher called me to verify our address!
So glad I sent this note with him this morning:
My son is a voracious reader, but he finds recording his reading to be
burdensome, so we don’t do it in the summertime. His favorite books
from this summer were Ender’s Game and Killer Pizza, and he is currently
working his way through the Series of Unfortunate Events and is reading
The Supernaturalist.
I’m not sure if you’ve seen his IEP yet. He has hyperactive/inattentive
type ADHD, a sensory integration disorder, perhaps a social learning
disability (although he’s tested negative for an autism spectrum
disorder), and he’s gifted. In other words, he can be a handful. But he
can also be a joy for a teacher, because he is so clearly thrilled when he
learns new things.
He has been very anxious this past month, which probably is due at least
in part to going to a new school. I’m sure you’re used to that. Please call
me if you have any questions or concerns about my son. My daytime
number is
Never thought in a million years she'd be calling me so soon! But beside
that little melt down, he did great in school, and other than missing me
(aww! sweetheart!) he said he liked it.
