Melatonin11yr boy, on Metadate CD | ADHD Information

Share

My dd currently uses Melatonin and it helps her fall asleep.  We started at 1 mg but in the last 1 1/2 years she is up to 3 mg. It is only to help fall asleep and we give it to her about 1/2 hour before she goes to bed.   My dd is currently on Concerta 54 mg and it lasts for 12 hours so we are able to get homework done but if we have an evening activity then I give her a short acting Ritalin.

Please keep asking questions as we are here to help.  Just to let you know there is a light at the end of the tunnel.  My dd is doing well in school and with a few friends and most importantly she is happy.  Before the medicine it was a whole different story.  Good luck to you.

If it's wearing off at 3pm, ask the doctor for a "booster."

Melatonin just helps with sleep.

Has any one used Melatonin to help with ADHD.  I was told it would help my son sleep, and that is great, but does it do anything helping with ADHD?  Should it only be given at night or can it be given during the day and he is 11 on Metadate CD 60 mg.  ANY info on this subject would be so appreciated.  WHat you use, how you use and dosage.  Thank you and have a peaceful day.. Here is the rest of my story.

Hello, I have a couple of questions.  I have a son who is 11 years old and he is on Metadate cd.  I am giving it to him an hour before school at 7:00 am to get it into his system as he just started Jr. High. Math is first subject and his hardest.  He gets off school at 3:20 and I have noticed his meds are pretty much worn off.  Can you tell me if the same thing is happening to you?  He is on the highest dose and I don't know if we should switch or what.  Homework is a battle every night, tears and all.  Can you suggest any thing or tell me your story and let me know if you are on the same meds and what you are experiencing?
