Has any one used Melatonin to help with ADHD. I was told it would help my son sleep, and that is great, but does it do anything helping with ADHD? Should it only be given at night or can it be given during the day and he is 11 on Metadate CD 60 mg. ANY info on this subject would be so appreciated. WHat you use, how you use and dosage. Thank you and have a peaceful day.. Here is the rest of my story.
Hello, I have a couple of questions. I have a son who is 11 years old and he is on Metadate cd. I am giving it to him an hour before school at 7:00 am to get it into his system as he just started Jr. High. Math is first subject and his hardest. He gets off school at 3:20 and I have noticed his meds are pretty much worn off. Can you tell me if the same thing is happening to you? He is on the highest dose and I don't know if we should switch or what. Homework is a battle every night, tears and all. Can you suggest any thing or tell me your story and let me know if you are on the same meds and what you are experiencing?
Melatonin is a natural substance found in the body to promote sleep. Don't use it daytime to try to make him calmer or more focused. You might want to look into omega-3 supplements, magnesium, or some other things (see the alternatives board here). If none of them work, maybe talk to your doctor about a prescription for Intuniv. However, it helps take the edge off, but it doesn't reduce symptoms anywhere near as much as the stimulant does. Mom2ADHDboy40442.2749189815
