Hi my son who is in kindergarten has adhd and possible odd. We have been through a few meds already had issues with tics, not working or horrible side effect and we have an appt with the dr today to discuss his focalin xr and his side effects which are very very moody, crying and arguementive on it and the crash is horrible. I was thinking of asking about dexedrine and just wondering if anyone had any good or bad experience with it.
TIA
Sorry I don't have any experience with dexedrine but I do have experience with Tenex. We use it to help with the negative side effects of Ritalin. If my son didn't take Tenex he couldn't take Ritalin! If the meds help with the impulse control/hyperactivity etc but the side effects are too bad then you may want to ask about adding Tenex. Just a thought...We used dexadrine for about 7 months, it worked well at school but had a fairly strong rebound at home. He also seemed to change in personality, no longer wanted to play etc, just wanted to read or draw. He now is on Vyvanse which is very similar but has an even more extended release than the dexadrine XR, a lower dose is working very well and we have our playful boy back.We had no probs with Dexedrine. While on Focalin XR, it was the afternoon booster.
