Tell the doc, he might switch to a different med. Meds all react differently with each person, so don't get discouraged. When you find the right one, life will be easier for your son.My 9 yo ds was recently diagnosed with adhd..not a surprise as I have basically known since he was 3...but still a kick in the gut none the less....tough to hear that your perfect little guy  might not be exactly perfect.  He is a very smart, funny caring and sensitive litle boy and I have been so scared about medicating him.  the turning point came when his teacher told me that although he was one of her top students, his inability to focus and stay on task was beginning to affect his potential and causing anger and anxiety---both of which were visible  at home.  He started licking his lips to the point of them being raw. He felt that everybody was always angry and mad at him, he was always in trouble.  He told me he just wanted to be normal and did't mean to get in trouble...it has been truly heartbreaking!! We did the paperwork and his pedi agreed...adhd with impulsivity.  We decided on a low dose(18) of concerta which he started on Saturday.  Between 4-5 hrs after taking the meds, he became very emotional and weepy.  we had a housefull of company and I watched him fight for control all day.  I was a wreck!!!  I decided to give it another day but in the back of my mind I'm thinking that I cannot send him to school like this....Losing it in class is the LAST thing he needs. Today (sunday)was much better. He did get a bit emotional over a fight with his younger brother but was able to recover quickly.  The weepies did creep in tonight..about 13 hours after his morning dose (18 mg)...coul;d this possibly be rebound?  Does anyone have any experience with concerta and being very emtional??  If so, did it get better??  Increased doses??  Change meds?  Like everybody else I just want to do what;s best for my child but at this rate, I'm going to need some serious medication myself very soon!!  if you have gotten this far, thanks for reading...i just need some help--for him and for me!
