Dosing guanfacine to get intuniv effect? | ADHD Information

How would one dose guanfacine through out the day in order to get
the same effect as, say, 3 MG Intuniv. I am guessing I would take 1
mg guanfacine 3 x per day.

I was on intuniv 3 mg per day, and was doing great. But im losing
insurance, so I had to switch to guanfacine. At the moment Im
taking 1 mg twice per day and I feel like Im relapsing with anxiety.
Maybe its just mental, but maybe not. Could use some help. Thanks.

This topic came up at my child's recent doctor appointment.  He said that the bioavailability of the two medications differs, so you can't equate one to the other.  Typically, guanfacine doses are about half the Intuniv dose, but there's no formula for it.  That info. comes from a developmental pediatrician who is an expert in ADHD medications.

I think you're right about taking the 1mg dose 2ce a day.  My son takes .5 mg three x day.  .5 when he wakes up, .5 at 3pm, and .5 when he goes to bed.  BUMP? If no one knows the answer to my question, can you please

take it?
