Vynase - Stomache | ADHD Information
My 7 yr old son has been taking Vynase for almost 2 weeks. He has complained of a stomach ache every day and night. I don't want to stop because I was told that it will eventually go away.
We had tried Concentra but I did not see a difference. His teacher immediately saw a difference the day he started Vynase. So, I don't want to stop. His is taking 30 mg. I was wondering if we go down in his dosage that this might help? He saws that his stomach hurts every time he eats or drinks.
I feel terrible telling him not to worry about. Is there anything I can do to help him?
Have you called the doctor? That should be your first step, because there
could be something else going on with your son, and also because the side
effects need to be documented.
My son had stomach pain, and his doctor had him start taking bacteria
tablets. For him the meds messed up the balance in his stomach. He took
the pills for about 6 weeks straight, then when he'd complain about pain
maybe once or twice a month afterward. We have been trying my 5year old son on Vyvanse since Nov 1, we started at 20mg, moved up to 30mg, then tried 25mg, back down to 20mg and now off meds till after christmas because no matter what we did with the dose it wasnt "working" for him. Anyway to my point, when we first started and each time we changed the dose he would complain of stomach ache, usually this went away after a couple days and then although he had a very decreased appetite he didnt complain of stomach ache. His never lasted more than a couple days, seeing as its been about two weeks I would agree with the previous poster to contact your doctor and see what they say. Good luck :)My son was on Vyvanse until it began to not affect him. At first his stomach would get upset also. What seemed to help was to never take it on an empty stomach and to make sure to eat meals with protein (meat, yogurt, milk). If my son ate a skimpy dinner, his stomach would hurt later. The dr. said it was important to make sure the child eats. I would also give him tums and this seemed to help. Good luck.
