Meds and anxiety | ADHD Information

My dd is on Focalin XR 15mg. This medicene has worked wonders for her in regards to school behavior. But it has brought out some of her anxiety issues. She picks at her fingers to the point that her nails are short and slightly red. I know that stimulants will allow the anxiety to come out to some degree. But is there one that doesn't bring it out as bad? I have heard great things about Vyvanse but unfortunately ins won't cover it.   

Intuniv isn't a stimulant, but it helps for hyperactivity and impulsivity as well as anxiety.  Maybe that would be worth trying?  If you try it and it's not enough for your child, you could try combining it with Focalin XR.  With Intuniv also is in the system, your child likely would see therapeutic effects on a lower dosage, and maybe you wouldn't see the anxiety side effect on the lower dose.

By the way, my child also picked at his fingers when he took Focalin XR.  He hasn't had this problem on Metadate CD.  We also haven't seen as much appetite suppression.
