I think if you could just relax, take your medication and go on with your life that you would start noticing the change if you are ADD. Some people have an "awakening" on the first dose of stimulant, and others notice the changes gradually. Maybe the stimulants are the wrong medication for you. You could try wellbutrin, or zoloft which is the ssri of choice for ADD.
I'd say you definately have ADD. However, I have found that no medicine is a substitute for self discipline. You need to be aware that you need three times as much as the average person in order to function the same way.
but i have all the classic symptoms and my sisters said that when i was little i never sat still, that i ALWAYS had to be doing something. i day dreamt all the time, lived in a fantasy world constantly, could not hold a job i'm 47 now, stillcant.
i proscrastinate constantly, i forget everything! things go in one ear and right out the other. i cannot retain information. i am always restless. my mind goes non stop.
so so many symptoms of ADD yet the meds seem to only make me feel happy! i am takin 10 mgs of adderall xr. and i am in thee best mood each day and when it wears off in the evenings i am wired up all evening too.
so maybe if the adderall xr is not making me get things done then maybe i am not ADD? how to tell though for sure?
when i try to go up to 20 mgs of adderallxr, the side effects of the anxiety and internal jitters makes me go back down to the 10. i have no insurance and am paying for this med straight out of pocket till the patient assistant program kicks in.
any ideas on this would be greatly appreciated!
