oops also wanted to add that my 2nd dd if I allow her to go to Kindergarten this yr will be 4 till her birthday, August 31. Most schools in my neck of the woods start the end of the first week in August. I am still on the fence about my youngest going to Kindergarten. I don't think she will be a problem but she is very small and looks like a 3 yr old. She wears 3t and 2t clothes. So I might wait a year so she will be the oldest and may have a little more height on her.

Thanks guys for your response. My daughters birthday is Aug 25, and as long as you were 5 before Sept. 1st, then you can go to Kindergarten. The school also offers pre-school through the state at the school so my daughter went to that when she was 4 and all the teachers in the school and principal knew her (because she is so outgoing and loves to talk to everyone) I talked to the principal and her pre-k teacher and they said it would be best to let her go to kindergarten because she is so smart and outgoing. They really didnt think she was ADHD. Kindergarten started on Aug 16 and she turned 5 on Agu 25th, so yes she stared at age 4 but it was only for like 2 weeks. If I could do it over I would have did the same thing because she is a very smart little girl. We also thought maybe she just needed to be challenged, but that cant happen unless she stops talking and stays in her seat!

About the medicine, I have called the doctors office and I'm waiting on a call back, Im not sure if they will up her meds because she is so small, Im not sure the averge size of a 5 year old is but she weighs 40lbs and is 42 inches tall, and very atheltic.

I did tell the teacher on the first day of school my concerns and if she could watch and let me know. She didnt tell me to get her checked but said later on in school she might become a problem child once she gets into the higher grades. I did tell her I wanted to get her checked so thats when she filled out the paperwork as a teacher and I filled them out as a parent and when I met with the doctor our papers matched.

I also have another daughter who is 2 and is a Aug baby and will be starting school when she is 4 also. They are like night and day apart and I dont beleive my littlest girl will be ADHD. I will keep you posted, thank you so much for your time.

Just an update, Doctor just called back and is putting her on 10 mg and wants me to try it for 1 week and call her back. I will keep everyone updated!Good luck!!!!!

My DS was diagnosed a month ago and was started on 5mg of Focolin XR. 5mg did no affect him so I moved it up to 10 mg after 2 weeks. That has worked much better for him. He is doing much better in school! He has greatly improved his handwriting and staying in his seat. It has not affected his sleep or appetite that I have noticed but he was a lot moodier when coming down from his meds. The teacher has also noticed that he is a little sadder than normal.
