sleep![]() Don't feel guilty about helping your son be more in control, and as you know sleep also is important for his well being! If he needs more meds for that to happen, so be it.I just went ot his DR. who prescribed Clonodine to help with rebound and sleep. I hate giving him more meds, he is only 5. But he is SOOO hyperactive off of the Focalin, we really had no choice. I am drowning in guilt. Also hoping it works. I don't know much about "Focalin". Is it a stimulant? My son was on 3 diff. meds which were all stimulants and he couldnt sleep either and had to take Clonidine and I felt guilty as well. Right now, my daughter is on a non-stimulant called Intuniv. It may cause drowsiness in some but not keep them awake so I'm hoping for good things with this medication. Also, my son is not medicated now but always has trouble sleeping. He tried Melatonin and it did pretty well for him. I don't think "most" of the non-stimulants cause Insomnia. Maybe ask Dr. about a non-stimulant so you don't have the sleep issue? Hope this helps! My DS is on Focalin and is doing great with it. however, he cannot fall asleep at night. He is up all night, which makes him impossible in the mornings. I give him Benadryl on school nights, but I hate giving him extra stuff. I tried melatonin, but he can't take pills and spit out the sublingual stuff. I can't find chewable, although I have read about it on this board. Any suggestions? I just put "chewable melatonin" into the search engine on Amazon and several options showed up. Also for one of my kids Source Naturals Gaba Calm works. It is a chewable. |
