Hi, I am new here as well. I am so glad to have found this site. I was diagnosed with ADD aboout a year ago. I was on Focalin for awhile but taken off because of my weight loss. I wasnt on anything for a few months and put back on Focalin xr. Its not working and I have been on it since Feb. 2011. My Dr. even increased my dose. Im not sure how to tell my Dr. or ask her if I should try something else.I forgot that this board existed lol, I'll bump this thread to say I am back (and new again lol)
Well, I just wanna introduce myself a bit :  My name is Catherine, I live in Quebec (Canada), and I'm 18.  I'm glad I found a place to share my ADHD stories.

Hi Catherine,

Thanks for sticking your hand out. I just joined myself and I am just finding my way around the website. I Take Vyvance in the Morning and then a dose of short acting Ritalin in the late afternoon. I work a long day in a QA Lab and Vyvance lasts about 9-10 hrs for me. I take ia at 5am so I'm dropping off around 3 pm when my work still has 2 hours to go. I've been on meds for about 4 years now and they make such a huge difference in my emotional balance and focus. Much better thean the old way- 10 cups of coffee a day!

Hey Hi and Aloha to lyou two

this is a great site for me.  I have gotten inspiraton adn ideas.  AND perhaps the best is to see I am not alone (and not at faault)

Hi, I am into alternative ways to deal with add and adhd and think this forum is an excellent place to not only help others, but also to learn in general. Thank you for a great informative site. I had a look around and found some valuable informationWelcome to the board new members

Hi, I'm Bedelia, and I am also from Quebec Canada!  I just found  this site, and it is going to take me a while to learn how to get around and communicate with the right people.  I am not only an adult, but an OLD adult--I am 75 years of age, and that is my main problem!!

There does not seem to be much information available for older people with ADD.  I read a few shares and they were adult children complaining about parents who seemed to have ADD but were in denial.  I'm just the opposite--I am sure I have ADD--and I am currently seeing a therapist who is helping me with strategies, and I am trying the Omega 3 treatment.  My children laugh at me, and think I am silly to be doing this, but I know I am on the right track, and I do want to get better for my declining years.  I would like to be in peace. and not overactive all the time.

I can't stop, I don't know how to relax, and I am busier now than I ever was when I was working.  It is getting worse!  This tires me out, but I can't stop--running around like a wet hen all the time.  Taking on more and more volunteer work.  Some of it is very satisfying, but I know this is not normal.  My therapist is having a hard time to find out more about ADD in the elderly (I hate to use that word about myself--I still think of myself as young) and that's how I found this forum--looking for info on ADD in the elderly for me and my therapist.

I hope I can meet some people here who can help--and I will be glad to share my e-mail address once I get to know you.   I look forward to making some new friends here.  It is good to know that I am not alone.   Hope there are some "elderly" ADDers out there.    Cheers, Bedelia

Hello there Catherine!!...I am new here as well, and love this site....it is so informative, and gives me so much hope that my life might someday be "semi normal"...lol
