ADHD and Allergy Season (Pollen) | ADHD Information

Hi Everyone!

I have an daughter who is 6-years-old with ADHD. I live in
the Atlanta, GA area where pollen season has recently
emerged with full force. I am curious if anyone else has
noticed their child's ADHD related behavior increasing
significantly as a result of seasonal allergies. The
things that are moderate issues normally have magnified
intensely in the last couple weeks for us. Last year I
noticed that she was kind of "spacy" or out of it during
the worst of the pollen season, but nothing like I am
dealing with this year. Thanks for any input you can give.alfy0440609.7165162037Yep!

It's why we are diligent about giving both boys their allergy meds. Younger
DS in particular (he's more likely to stay sick all spring long if we don't
manage his allergies/asthma well).

Straight up - if kids don't feel well, they're behavior is going to be off and it's
magnified when ADHD is in the picture

The two go hand-in-hand here as well.  I am one of the few people to hope for a rainy spring because I want the pollen to be washed away!

Two years ago, we had a very rainy spring and there were no ADHD issues for most of that spring.  It was a wonderful break from the normal pattern!

Are you doing the things to reduce the pollen exposure like showering every night, clothes straight into a hamper that must be outside the bedroom, try to minimize time outside in the morning because pollen counts are higher then?
