What is max Adderall dose for ADHD? | ADHD Information

What is the maximum dosage of Adderall for a diagnosis of ADHD (Adult ADHD)?

I know that the maximum dose varies depending diagnosis.  I have been taking 90mg daily for a little over three years now.  When my doctor increased me to 90mg, he told me that was the maximum for the ADD/ADHD diagnosis.  He mentioned that a Narcolepsy diagnosis would allow a maximum of 120mg daily...but it could also have some SERIOUS, LONG-TERM negative repercussions that far outweighed any benefits from the higher dosage!

I DO have obstructive sleep apnea and suffer from EDS (excessive daytime sleepiness) frequently, so he could actually treat me for narcolepsy.  But NARCOLEPSY is a label that can haunt you for the rest of your life!  INCREASED Health Insurance premiums FOR LIFE are a certainty...that is if you can find a carrier willing to cover you at all!  It can also cause major issues with the DMV and keeping/renewing your driver's license.  Narcoleptics are automatically rated as "HIGH RISK" by auto insurers and pay up to 300% more for auto coverage as a result!  NO THANKS!!!

Anyway, I was wondering if anything might have changed in the last three years or is 90mg still the ceiling for ADHD?  I am a 36yr old man, 6'3", 240lbs.  Even taking 90mg, my blood pressure is still on the low-end of the normal range.  So I could tolerate 120mg with little or no risk of causing cardio problems.

I haven't seen my doctor in at least six months, so I haven't had the chance to ask him about it.  I just call his nurse every month and she leaves my Rx at the front desk for me.  But I have an appt to actually see him next week.
