Typically. ADHD folk do really well in the military . Where there is a lot
of routine and structure.

Even many higher education graduates do really well. Until their
adaption to school life routine is no longer part of their life.

For those that can. Incorporate. The ability to work ahead. Do very
well. Like. Every day just after deadlines are met. They immediately
work on what is due at at a distance , completing the first step of all
projects. In this daily work ahead time. And making a task navigation
list that can utilized to delegate some of their workload to others. With
enough time to get it completed well befor any deadline. So that.
Innovation or competivenes can be added by the due date.

For me. This mental thinking feature simply doesn't exist in my
thinking. I had to learn it from others and keep it in physical form on a
computer. This applies well for me in personal matters. As. My
success is not in measure with monetary worth anymore.

If it's possible, try finding a job or career field that relates to something you like to do in your free time.  If you're really knowledgeable about weight training & nutrition and you love to work out, you might try to find a job as a personal trainer.  That's what worked for me.  I love research & geopolitical issues, so I was able to find a job that pays well in that career field.  If it's not feasible to do what you love, then find a job environment that fits your learning and work style.  If you adapt well to very structured environments with specific protocols and systems, then find a workplace that offers it.  If you need room to be creative and work at your own pace and use your own methods, find a job that fits that category.  Being comfortable in a job that meets your financial and personal needs is most important.  Be your own advocate...take control of the process and talk to potential employers about your condition and if it doesn't feel right, move on!

Personally, I did NOT do well in the military.  ADD folks might do well in the junior enlisted ranks where they're dealing with the technical aspects of the job and have few, if any additional duties, but those entrusted with administrative work and leadership roles that require organization and attention to detail...maybe not so much.  I was an officer, so I did little of the technical work, and a lot of the administrative and organizational work.  That didn't work well with the way my brain was wired.

Im a 36 yr old male with ADHD, and I would really like to hear from someone that has ADHD and is successful in their career. Maybe high up in a company, or owns a business, or just make really good money. I am also curious of what types of jobs that ADHD people are good at. Hopefully this isn't to personal of a topic for anyone to respond. i just really need some "reassurance" that it's possible to be successful with the disorder, because i have quit so many jobs because of it.
