Are you having a psychologist who specializes in children with ADHD evaluating the results? There can be lots of different variables.
My son is in a Montessori school and the teacher had no idea of any adhd and it showed on the Conners test. But in reviewing the parents test and evaluating my child himself, (this was after several appts to be sure) the therapist diagnosed him as having adhd inattentive type. He is supersmart and it is easy for teachers to miss, because they do ok in school. Now he has finally shed many of his anxiety problems and stress as he is not losing his mind doing what he knows he can do!:)
Hope this helps.
hello thank you for replying
my daughter is being seen by the school pediatrician this was the second time he had ever seen her when he gave me the test and also her teacher , the first time she seen him she was quiet and playing with toys nicely , the second time she seen him she was jumping off the beds and hanging upside down on the chair kept picking the baby up (which i said was on of the problems we have with her, i cannot leave them in the same room without her picking him up) , she was also right in the doctors face and very giddy also she locked my friend in the toilet. so he seen for himself what she can be like and like i told him thats nothing compaped to what she can be like. so i think that helped alot that she felt comfortable enough around him now to do that.
the doctor said he would refer her to camhs and do these tests but my score is completly different from the teachers as the most she does is fidget at school. the teacher said without a doubt she gets a 3 for fidgetting . but like i told the doctor she has never really been a problem in school.
do you know how they score them?
and weather the scores being so different make a difference
the doctor has said that he thinks she has implusive adhd not to sure what that is as we have got used to the way she is over years .
I would reccommend a couple of things.
You can go to the library and get some books about ADHD. Educate yourself. You will be amazed at what you will learn. Here are 2 that I read, the first one is based on the, American Academy of Pediatrics' own clinical practice guidelines for ADHD, the second I read with my sons to help have a positive outlook.
ADHD : a complete and authoritative guide for parents
Reiff, Michael I.
The survival guide for kids with ADD or ADHD
Author Taylor, John F.,
The second thing is again, I strongly urge you to find an expert Physchologist in ADHD for kids. Pediatricians are not specialized in ADHD and cannot properly treat ADHD - or sometimes diagnose. Its like taking your child to the pediatrician for heart failure instead of a cardiologist. Also, teachers are not trained in ADHD either.
One thing you will learn about ADHD is that it presents differently in every child. You will also learn that the most effective treatment is a combination of medication and behaviorial therapy.
You will have to be the lead organizer for your child. You know your child best and have their best intrests at heart. Get a proper diagnosis from an expert, educate yourself, then work with and educate the teacher. Get a 504 to provide accomodations in the classroom if needed.
Hope this helps, if you have more questions just ask or look around on this site - it has really been helpful for me, from people who are experiencing the same things we are.
Good luck
hello i was just wondering if anyone had had the same problem with the connors form .
my scores where alot different from the schools whereas mine was stating what she is like at home ALOT and the schools is 3 for figgiting and 2 other 3's then 0's for pretty much everything else
