Medication equivilents | ADHD Information
focalin is a methylphenidateI have been trying to find a good fit of medication for my son so there is
less troubles and also, since the summer is coming, i need to do
something that works with less troubles.
Let me explain. My son is on a 15mg daytrana patch. In the morning he
takes 15 mg of fast acting ritalin and then 3 hours later i put the patch on.
This gets him till about 6pm and then we give him 12.5 of fast acting
ritalin till bdetime. This has been working gret for almost 2 years but the
summer he cannot wear a patch because when he sweats and swims, it
peels off easily.
Last summer we would give him 15 mg of fast acting ritlin every 3 1/2- 4
hours. We dont like the rollercoaster that the pills do and since he is
getting older and bigger, he is concerned that his friends will wonder why
he goes to the nurse all the time.
We are trying focalin XR during this break. Today he had a half day and his
patch fell off so it was a good day to try the focalin.
So here is my question. if anyone has switched from ritalin to focalin xr,
what was the dose difference? He was on 15mg of ritalin so what has
been your experience from one med dose to another. If he is 15 mg
ritalin, what would be a similar dose on focalin xr? Would it also be
15mg?]
I know everyone is different and all meds are different, but just as a
general idea..your doctor can correctly tell you. My ds takes 20mg short acting ritalin (3
times per day) which is 40mg of ritalin la (long acting). He previously took
54mg concerta (long acting) until it stopped working.
