Prayerful Mom needs help.... | ADHD Information

Have you tried different meds?  Some just work better for certain people than others.  The only way to know is a trial.  Is your dr. a specialist for ADHD is children - like a psychiatrist??  Ours has lots of creative ideas about meds, supplements excercises etc.

There are some meds that can start asap to get you going until the main one kicks in.

One thing our psychologist explained is that ADHD and anxiety can look the same in children.  My older son had lots of anxiety, but it came from the untreated ADHD - he just couldn't get organized etc. The meds (he is on Focalin 20mg) really made a difference in both areas.

My hubby tried all sorts of antidressants and ADHD meds and after about 5 has settled on one that works for him.  His is the anti-depressant.

Do you want prayer?  I can do that for you..

Good luck:)

My child is nearly 10 and has severe anxiety and ADHD....I feel like we are in
catch 22 as the anxiety /focus issues work against each other....lovable and
likable and as IMPULSIVE as can be.....200 mg of zoloft and 100 mg of
vyvanse.....it takes about 2 hours for meds to work in system and I have
about 4 hours of "best".....and the rest of the hours have him
STRUGGLING....any help???

Do you think that maybe a med change may be helpful? have you tried other meds?

My son takes guanfacine and it REALLY helps relax them and assist with anxiety. He also takes concerta for his H and impulsiveness. he has been on this combo for over 7 years.

What are your thoughts?

YES ON PRAYER ....ALWAYS.....Thank you for your time and response.....

We are with Psychiatrist that is getting ready to "refer" us on.....It has been a
good week and always feel soooooooooooo blessed when "normalcy"
happens and HE CAN FEEL successful.....

what happens to me is we go through a good period and I forget.  I forget the parenting skills and patience needed to get through the tough times.  It always catches me by surprise..

Sleep is another thing that is super important for my younger boy who is really impulsive and has ODD in addition to the ADHD.  If I relax and let him stay up more than a couple of times, he really can go sideways.  Getting sick can also throw him off.
