Have you tried Melatonin? It's a herbal sleep aid. The body produces it but, sometimes not enough.
My 10yr son (adhd combined/odd ) uses it an hour before bed during the week and sleeps until I wake him up. Once a month he may wake up at 5-6am , but i'm up for work anyway so it doesn't really matter. I think the clock idea is great and the marble idea also.
I haven't tried much of anything. We have started his bed
Is he waking up too early? How about leaving him some magazines, books, or puzzles that he can reach and do quietly until it's time to get up for the day? Can he tell time on a digital clock, even just the hour? Let him know what time he's allowed to leave his room. If needed, tape over the minutes so there's no confusion which number to use.
I had to do this with my children for awhile. I started out giving them a small reward every day they quietly stayed in their rooms until 7:00. Later, we switched to having to do it two days in a row in order to earn a reward, and slowly we stretched out the time until he no longer needed any reward.
Immediate rewards tend to be more effective than ones received far in the distance, so try for an immediate reward. It could be reading him a book, a special treat with breakfast, or whatever would motivate him!
I wanted to introduce myself.
