Rats!!!  Can you say hives?

Ok, I have to watch my words here since I've been accused of being an amatuer pharmacists, so bear with me.  I just have some questions with a little background.

mid July: started welbutrin   August 5: hives

I discovered that it wasn't the meds., but rather the "smell good" bath stuff that had NEVER bothered me before.  I started Welbutrin one week later and no problem since I only used mild soaps.

December:  stopped Welbutrin and got brave and started "smell good" stuff again. No problem.

Mid January: Adderall 3 days and about 5 hives on body.  (Stomach, hands, and arms)

Could these medicines make my skin sensitive to soap OR could I be allergic even though the hives aren't severe?  Now in August they were, and I had to go to Urgent Care.

I honestly don't remember reading ANY posts like this one on the board.

scattered&fun38367.4959722222Well if you are getting hives while you are on the medication, than maybe it is making your skin more sensitive. Hives can be a side effect to Adderall, I would definatly talk to your doctor about it allergic reactions can get worse.

i haven't had any for two days.  this isn't b/c i don't like it, but b/c there seems to be a hold up with insurance approval. URGH!!!!

i think sometimes we put a lot of faith in something, so it is easy to be let down.  the improvement in my concentration and focus is subtle.  i don't notice it as much until i don't have it.

my toddler had surgery on monday which was the last day of my 'out-of-pocket paid-for" meds.  i've been home for two days and have accomplished nothing but fatigue.  i bought some vitamin b mega-suppliments and some ginko last night.  i've never tried these before but i was hoping they'd get me through the next couple weeks until the insurance cooperates.  i took them today, and felt nothing.  i'm sure these have to build up.  we'll see.

i do think that maybe you might want to give the 20mg another try.  if not, maybe concerta will do the trick.  just stay positive and try not to kill dh. i know it may be tempting sometimes, but it probably isn't worth it.

i don't think the hives are medicine related and neither does the doc.  i think that it may be a new way of reacting to stress that i developed exactly on my 30th b-day.  the first episode started on the first day of school this year and the second right before my son's surgery.  i guess it's coincidence that it happened upon starting new meds.

to scatteredandfun:  i was just wondering if you have yet had any focus/concentration benefits yet from the adderall xr?

i think you were on 20 mgs of it, right?  it seems we had both started it around the same time.

i did not take any on sunday and i was a total BITCH!  the next day, monday at work, my dh could tell the difference and he said he was afraid of me all d ay sunday and was walking on egg shells, lol,  poor guy.

funny how we pick on those closest to us cause i had talked with my daughter and did not treat her the same way at all but he got the brunt of it all.  i was thinking of getting off it all together and was trying to dwindle down doses of it, then my dr. gave me a coupon for concerta but it was expired and  she didnt know it either, lol, so i still have the adderall  xr and am thinking of just sticking with that anyways.

the only thing i do not like about it though is it makes me too hyper at 20 and nada at 10 and i figured i should just get use to the 20 anyways cause that is probably where i would end up at anyways dosage wise, and messing around with a 15 seems a waste of time and money to me.

so  let me know if you are doing any better on this other then the rash thingy.  when i was on ritalin i got these tiny itchy bumps, so i had to quit it, i hope this goes away for you.
