discrimination against employees adhd?? | ADHD Information

I'm working in a work place...not at home...i think ritalin can show up as a drug on  test...as far as i know it's a stimulant and drug testing for employees is now legal here....so there's the problem..i didn't want to lie coz i mite be getting in trouble for that and i wanna use this job as a stepWildlad088 - Now, that's the Americans with Disablitlies Act that ADDitup referred to. Unless you already have, I'd check to see if they have such an Act in Ireland.

When you say your got the job on a computer, do you mean you work on your computer from home? Or just found the job on a computer? If you are working at the business, perhaps you could speak alone with your supervisor/boss or whomever you revealed this to, and mention that you would prefer they didn't disclose this information to any coworkers, that it's quite private.

Either way, I'm sure if they see you can do the work satisfactorily, you're still an asset to their business.

Good luck!
unless you take a drug test it is illegall for your employer to ask you that is so bad coz i didn't know my rights.....i though that if i said i didn't take any medication and they saw me take it they would have a grudge against me and that would look bad on my part for lying....i told them the truth....now i feel bad coz i've disclosed some personal information about myself...I may be wrong.. but I thought the Americans with Disablitlies Act prohibited employers from asking about medications and medical status.  You may want to look into this act and see if there is anything  that can protect you.

Just an idea. If it doesn't show up in a urine test, why tell them?I am just wondering that if you get a job on a computer and they found out when they asked you if you were on medication, if you would be discriminated against because telling them you had been taking ritalin??would it be a problem or can they fire you because of it??i've just told my employers i do take ritalin for adhd.
